Antique ISLAMIC Persian NAPKIN RING Sterling SILVER Ottoman SIGNED Lucknow QAJAR

  
Very rare, early Islamic Qajar sterling silver napkin ring depicting a great battle of the Iranian empire. Decorated with a continuous landscape peopled with many figures, as well as several cartouches containing Arabic script. Translation of the script has proved challenging; however, one name reads " Fazlali ". The battle depicted shows an army of soldiers armed with muskets and cannons strewn across a rocky terrain filled with trees, flags and tents. One central figure appears to be in a cave crouched down reaching into a well or pool of water.

The whole scene seems to be a narrative of events of the battle. Displaying amazing craftsmanship, this piece is finally wrought using repousse, chasing and engraving techniques in sterling 925 (or greater) silver content. Overall very good antique condition, as pictured. A very unique item; research could find no other similar signed examples.
