Antique 1866 Sterling Silver Medallion Hand Chased Wide Napkin Ring

  
Presented is an antique, sterling silver, or perhaps coin silver, napkin ring made in America in 1866. This piece is really impressive in size, much larger and much heavier than most. The hand chasing is so beautifully detailed. The sides are decorated with repousese flowers and the center has an applied, raised center medallion of a Roman or Greek profile of a young man. The rims both have beaded edges.

The back has been engraved with the monogram: LH April 11/66, for April 11 1866. This piece is in very good condition, especially considering its age. There is a split to the rim on the back of the ring along the original solder seam. This split is visible in the 3rd and 4th photos. Otherwise only minor surface wear.
